Another randomized study which was conducted at more than 300 women, investigated the effectiveness of four popular diet approaches - including the Atkins diet -. [4] These subjects were divided into four groups and initially eight weeks in the various nutritional approaches trained (Atkins, Zone, Ornish and a traditional low-fat diet). In the year after that, both the weight loss success as well as the development of major risk factors for cardiovascular disease was investigated.. The Atkins group could clearly distinguish them as the only dietary form of the other three groups. It was lost, on average, more weight and observed the best development in risk factors
